YouTube Music Introduces AI-Generated Radio and Song Recognition Features

YouTube Music is introducing two groundbreaking features to enhance user experience and boost song discovery. The streaming giant is rolling out an AI-generated conversational radio and a new Shazam-like song recognition tool, making it easier for listeners to find and enjoy new music.

The AI-powered conversational radio allows users to create custom stations by describing the desired music. Complementing this is YouTube Music’s new song recognition capability, enabling users to identify songs by singing, humming, or playing parts of them, and search the platform’s catalog using only their voice. These innovative features underscore YouTube Music’s commitment to empowering music fans to navigate the vast expanse of available content.

OpenAI’s ‘Strawberry’ Project Aims to Develop AI Capable of Autonomous Research

OpenAI is creating “Strawberry” to enhance its AI models’ reasoning. Strawberry aims to build an AI that can answer questions, search online, and conduct autonomous research. The specialized processing method could set a new AI standard. If successful, Strawberry could transform research and problem-solving by filling knowledge gaps and offering hypotheses, accelerating discovery. Reuters reports Strawberry has achieved breakthroughs, with AI models demonstrating advanced science and math abilities. OpenAI has tested models scoring over 90% on a championship-level math data set.

Achieving Strawberry’s goals could mark a pivotal moment in AI research, bringing us closer to autonomous AI systems capable of independent research and sophisticated reasoning. This aligns with OpenAI’s plans to expand its models’ potential. The Strawberry project underscores OpenAI’s commitment to pushing AI boundaries. Its success could set a new industry standard as the AI landscape evolves.

Deezer Introduces AI-Powered Playlist Generator to Compete with Spotify and Amazon Music

Deezer, a music streaming app, has introduced a new AI-powered playlist generator feature called “Playlist with AI.” This feature allows a select group of paid Deezer users to create custom playlists by using text prompts that describe moods, genres, decades, activities, and other factors. The launch of this feature comes a few months after Spotify and Amazon Music started testing similar personalized AI playlist generators. YouTube is also reportedly testing a prompt-based AI radio feature.

Deezer says that 5% of its paying subscribers will have access to the beta version of the Playlist with AI feature. The feature is powered by Google’s Gemini 1.5 AI model, and Deezer has been leveraging AI to enhance its recommendations and overall user experience, including its signature “Flow” feature and the Shazam-like “Song Catcher” feature.

Deezer has not yet announced when the Playlist with AI beta will be rolled out more widely to its users.

Amazon Unveils Rufus, an AI-Powered Shopping Assistant, for All US Customers

Amazon has launched its AI-powered shopping assistant, Rufus, to all U.S. customers within the Amazon app. Rufus helps customers find products, make comparisons, and receive personalized recommendations based on Amazon’s data. The chatbot-style assistant can engage in natural conversations, answering shopping-related questions, such as factors to consider when buying items, latest trends, and providing context beyond just product info.

During beta testing, customers interacted with Rufus by asking direct questions and using related queries to guide their needs. This approach allowed the assistant to better understand and address customer requirements.

While Rufus performed well as a shopping companion, its reliance on Amazon’s data sources could limit recommendation quality. However, Amazon will improve Rufus over time as it gathers more customer feedback and data.

To access Rufus, U.S. customers need to update their Amazon Shopping app and look for the chatbot icon.
