Deezer Introduces AI-Powered Playlist Generator to Compete with Spotify and Amazon Music
Deezer, a music streaming app, has introduced a new AI-powered playlist generator feature called “Playlist with AI.” This feature allows a select group of paid Deezer users to create custom playlists by using text prompts that describe moods, genres, decades, activities, and other factors. The launch of this feature comes a few months after Spotify and Amazon Music started testing similar personalized AI playlist generators. YouTube is also reportedly testing a prompt-based AI radio feature.
Deezer says that 5% of its paying subscribers will have access to the beta version of the Playlist with AI feature. The feature is powered by Google’s Gemini 1.5 AI model, and Deezer has been leveraging AI to enhance its recommendations and overall user experience, including its signature “Flow” feature and the Shazam-like “Song Catcher” feature.
Deezer has not yet announced when the Playlist with AI beta will be rolled out more widely to its users.
Amazon Unveils Rufus, an AI-Powered Shopping Assistant, for All US Customers
Amazon has launched its AI-powered shopping assistant, Rufus, to all U.S. customers within the Amazon app. Rufus helps customers find products, make comparisons, and receive personalized recommendations based on Amazon’s data. The chatbot-style assistant can engage in natural conversations, answering shopping-related questions, such as factors to consider when buying items, latest trends, and providing context beyond just product info.
During beta testing, customers interacted with Rufus by asking direct questions and using related queries to guide their needs. This approach allowed the assistant to better understand and address customer requirements.
